Gibbons Street Cafe | Redfern
Gibbons Street Cafe
Shop 1 7/9 Gibbons St, Redfern NSW 2016Gibbons St Cafe is a simplistic cafe located about a two minute walk from Redfern station which is an ideal location if you're a usyd student.
This cafe is well known for their aesthetic hotcakes along with a variety of fusion lunch and breakfast dishes that are served all day. Also serving a range of hot and cold drinks which add to your shot.
The atmosphere of the cafe is really warm and nice with the addition of very minimalistic lights hanging from the top.
Bangkok Brekkie Eggs $16 |
The eggs were perfectly cooked and all the flavours were well put together, especially with the addition of the sriracha sauce. Overall, the Bangkok Brekkie is definitely your go to breakfast meal at Gibbons St Cafe.
Squid and Chorizo Linguini $17 |
We also tried the Squid and Chorizo Linguini which is one of their popular asian fusion savoury dish. The dish came with grilled chorizo's and squid, tossed with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and finally topped with basil, chilli oil and garlic.
The flavours of the dish really made it stand out and the chorizo's along with the squid were also perfectly cooked mixed into the dish. The Squid and Chorizo Linguini should definitely be on your list to try as it is one of my favourites from here.
Mango & Passionfruit Cloud Bowl $16 |
As for the sweeter options, we opted for the Mango & Passionfruit Cloud Bowl. The bowl consisted of granola, mango and passionfruit mousse which was topped with muesli and seasonal fruit.
At first, we were contemplating whether the dish would be more for the looks rather than the taste. But in fact, the flavours of the bowl were quite unique and definitely changed our perception of the cloud bowl.
Gibbons Street Hotcakes $18 |
Last but not least, we ordered the signature Gibbons Street Hotcakes which is what the cafe is well known for. The lemon ricotta hotcakes were topped with seasonal berries, honey comb, yoghurt and was finished off with their splendid rhubarb compote sauce.
The cooking time for this dish is at least 15 minutes but it is definitely worth the wait. The texture of the hotcakes were quite fluffy and light and for the flavouring, it wasn't particularly sweet which was good for the accompanying rhubarb compote sauce. Overall, the hotcakes here is a must try, whether it would be your dessert meal or even your main!
Gibbons Street Cafe is a definitely a cafe to go to for aesthetic pictures of food that actually tastes nice and also is a very convenient location for you to catch up with your friends!
