The Font Cafe

38 Abercrombie St, Chippendale NSW 2008

The Font Cafe is a cute minimalistic cafe that opened just recently in central park, which is about a ten minute walk from central station.

They serve a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes with an option of allium free for selected dishes. They also offer a range of drinks including coffee, tea, cold drinks and a couple of special drinks.

The interior design of this cafe is really nice and simplistic with their marble tables. They also have great lighting inside as heaps of natural light comes through their windows which is of course good for photos.

Cappuccino $3.50 | Matcha Latte $5
For our drinks, we ordered a regular cappuccino and one of their special drinks which is the matcha latte. When the drinks were brought over to us, the staff was a bit wobbly with them and actually spilled some of the coffee (why our latte art was a bit ruined). But i mean, we couldn't even move the cup without spilling it even more.

In terms of taste, the coffee wasn't as nice as other coffees we've tried before. For the matcha latte, the matcha was really subtle so it kind of felt like you were drinking warmed milk. Overall, the drinks we tried today weren't as good as we expected them to be but maybe it was just a bad day!

Mushroom House Pasta $18.95
As there were quite a few options for lunch, we decided to go with ur popular Mushroom House Pasta. Surprisingly, the food came quite quickly after we ordered. The Mushroom Pasta was served mushrooms and asparagus topped with slices of herb bread.

The pasta was cooked really well with great flavour and loads of cream. The creaminess was well balanced so that you wouldn't get sick of it after a few mouthfuls. As for the mushrooms, they mainly used the big king mushroom which actually went quite well with the pasta. The Mushroom House Pasta was definitely an enjoyable dish.

Made in the Font $17.95

For dessert, we were contemplating whether we should get the French Toast or Made in the Font which were both recommended dishes. In the end, we decided to go for the pancakes.

The homemade pancakes had an option of red velvet or matcha but we decided that we can matcha everywhere so we opted for the red velvet flavour. The pancakes were very soft and wasn't very sweet which was well accompanied by the sweet ice-cream and strawberry syrup. The dish was also topped with the classic fruit loops and fresh seasonal fruit.

Overall, the Font Cafe is definitely a cafe with enjoyable food however the drinks could be improved. This cafe is also a nice place you could study at as there is free wifi (you have to ask them for the password) and wasn't too busy when we went.
